Assessment at Chawton CE Primary School
Why we assess
- Assessment plays a key role in helping us to continually improve outcomes for all pupils.
- This helps teachers to accurately identify strengths and barriers to learning for each individual pupil, as well as the class as a whole.
- Class teachers use this information to adapt planning and teaching to ensure it meets the needs of all pupils, both within lessons and betwen lessons.
- Leadership also use this informaiton to track progress throughout the school.
How we assess & track progress throughout the school:
At Chawton we have our own assessment system, based around the Hampshire Assessment Model.
At the heart of all our assessment is the strong subject knowledge held by our class teachers and support staff, as well as their in-depth knowledge and understanding of each individual pupil within their class. These ensure assessment is accurate, robust, and used meaningfully to move children forwards in their learning.
If you have any further questions regarding how your child is assessed, please do speak your child's class teacher who would be more than happy to talk with you.
Please see the expectation documents below for further information regarding expectations for each year group.
