On Thursday 8th and Friday 9th December Key Stage 1 performed their Christmas play 'The Raggedy King'.
The hall was full of beaming parents, friends and family who all enjoyed the children's singing, dancing and acting. This year's performance displayed a few solo singing parts which were amazing and left most of the audience (and staff) in tears!
The play followed the story of the Shepherds and how they couldn't possibly find a gift worthy for the new born King. In the end, with the help of Mary, they gave him the gift of love.
All the Key Stage 1 team really enjoyed the songs and the story of 'The Raggedy King' and we were all thrilled with how brilliantly the children performed. A big 'thank you' to all those who came to watch, supported and helped. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
A retiring collection was raised for Breast Cancer Care. |

Bastille Day Chawton Primary School
On Friday 15th July we all enjoyed celebrating Bastille Day by having a French themed day at school. The children experienced a traditional French breakfast of “croissants”, “pains au chocolat” and “chocolat chaud”.
The day included a variety of themed activities, including learning the traditional southern game of petanque; as well as a French lunch. Each class performed a French song and learnt about the history of the French Revolution in a whole school assembly. The children came to school dressed in red, white and blue. They even had to wear ID cards that they had made.
Both children and staff would like to say a big thank you to Madame Mylward for organising the day. Merci bien! |

On Thursday 16th June, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 went on a trip to Marwell Zoo. We went on a coach to the zoo which was good fun. When we got there we looked around at all of the animals. We liked the penguins and tigers the most! Some of us got to go on the train during the day as well. After lunch we had an education session with someone from the zoo. We got to look at lots of things including animal skins. Then we also got to touch some animals. We touched a snake, a rat and a stick insect. When we got back to school we were all really tired. We had a brilliant day (even though it rained a lot) and loved seeing all the different animals!
