On Wednesday 20th January Yellow Class and Red Class visited the ‘Maritime Museum’ in Southampton to find out some more information about their exciting topic 'Titanic!'.
All the children thoroughly enjoyed seeing real objects from the Titanic and the interesting photographs too. There were pictures of passengers, inside the ship and of Captain Smith. Most of the children particularly enjoyed seeing Captain Smith's sword!
Each child completed their own activity book whilst at the museum. The children had to find the answers in the museum to some questions and find out who some of the passengers were. The children now have a greater understanding of why the ship is so famous.
Many thanks to the parents that joined us on this trip ~ Mrs Clarke, Mrs Cornaia, Mrs Craig - Wood, Mr Jones, Mrs Pearson and Mrs Whittock. |

On Thursday 17th December our football team went to Dunhurst school and competed in the Portsmouth Football Club Premier League Schools Tournament.
The tournament took most of the day and our squad of 8 players from year 5 and 6 worked extremely hard playing in seven 6 aside matches.
We did extremely well in the first round matches. We drew our first game, won our 2nd, lost our 3rd and won our 4th and 5th. (We even beat our group's favourites Wootey Juniors)
In the afternoon we made it though to the semi-finals against Bentley (who later went on to win the competition), we sadly lost the game 2-0.
After the semi-finals we had the 3rd place play-off games against Sheet Primary school, this was a very close match resulting in a penalty shoot out!! We sadly lost the penalty shoot out but it was an excellent experience for our team.
Well done Florence, Harry M, Cameron, Arthur, William P-W, Sam G (Captain), Toby C and Bradley. |

All staff and parents were thrilled with the children's acting and singing in the Key Stage 1 Christmas production.
Some very colourful aliens had landed at our school after their spaceship had broken down! Our pupils explained to the aliens all about Christmas and why we celebrate it. The children sang a range of new songs as well as some traditional favourite Christmas songs. The children in Green Class were fantastic in their first ever Christmas play!

During the week 16th - 20th November '09 we took part in the National Ant-Bullying Week.
We began the week with our whole school wearing blue for the day to show that we were taking part in this important week. During our whole school assembly we heard a story from the SEAL 'Say No To Bullying' pack and we discussed why this week was special.
Mrs Gates announced a whole school competition, where each child had to design a colourful and eye-catching poster explaining that if we see any unkind behaviour in our school we must tell someone about it.
Each class invented their own superhero who stood up for friends as well as many other activities related to Anti - Bullying. At the end of the week it was announced in achievement assembly which children had won the poster competition. The winners were presented with their own certificates and their posters will be displayed on our website! In Key Stage 1 the winner was Archie and in Key Stage 2 the winner was Antony - well done to them both! Other posters can be seen around our school.
